NMT's biological services are located in Tumwater, Washington. The biologists are responsible for customer service, tagging advice and training, and determining which important biological problems require improved identification techniques. They work jointly with the physicists and engineers on Shaw Island to devise improved techniques, and then evaluate the results.

Northwest Marine Technology continues to operate the hatchery at Allison Springs for the Research and Development of fish tags and equipment.
