NMT Releases VIE Color Code Generator Application

NMT is releasing NMT VIE Color Code Generator version 1.0.  This Windows application will assist users  in planning studies using NMT's Visible Implant Elastomer (VIE) tagging system.

VIE coding is done by combining tag colors, tag locations and (optionally) multiple tags per specimen to provide numerous individual or batch identifications. The NMT VIE Color Code Generator program allows users to input the number of tag locations, colors and number of tags per animal.  The application will calculate the total number of codes available.  Upon request, it can also provide a list of each code combination.

For example, with four colors, four tag locations and two tags per individual, 96 different code combinations are possible.

The software requires that each individual have the same number of tags.  This is so that ambiguity does not result from tag loss.
